We are pleased to announce that the 2021 Balkhi Foundation Higher Education Scholarship application is now open. This $1000 annual renewable scholarship is open to all high school seniors who have been accepted to attend a US college or university and who demonstrate financial need. Students must have a 3.5 (weighted or unweighted) GPA to be considered for this award and must apply before 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. Interested applicants can Apply Here.
In addition to the Balkhi Foundation’s ten annual scholarships, this year we are proud to partner with the Rotary Club of the Northern Palm Beaches to designate the first Balkhi Foundation Rotary Scholar. This $1000 renewable scholarship is offered to make higher education more affordable for a talented Florida student majoring in education. Eligible students can opt to be considered for the Rotary Scholar award within their 2021 Higher Education Scholarship application. The Rotary Club of the Northern Palm Beaches and the Balkhi Foundation are committed to leveling the playing field for future educators who demonstrate a commitment to service and academic excellence.
To apply to the 2021 Balkhi Foundation Higher Education Scholarship, students should submit the initial online application by 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. This streamlined application allows students to be considered for the scholarship without submitting a hard copy transcript or prewritten teacher recommendation. Instead, teachers are contacted to provide an electronic recommendation based on email addresses provided by the student. Once applications close, applications will be evaluated and only finalists will be requested to submit transcripts and other supporting documentation. The Balkhi Foundation Higher Education Scholarship was started to improve access to high quality education to talented students with financial need. At the Balkhi Foundation, we know that a student’s achievement is more often bound not by ability, but by circumstance. That is why we are proud to have funded twenty $1000 scholarships to exceptional high school seniors since 2019. These talented students have continued to rise above adversity and have achieved the designation of Balkhi Foundation Scholars. The importance of providing assistance for talented students cannot be understated. The eleven talented scholars of 2021 will be chosen after a blinded review of hundreds of candidates, many of whom will still require financial assistance to attend college.
