The Balkhi Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2022 Balkhi Foundation Higher Education Scholarship Application has opened. The Balkhi Foundation Higher Education Scholarship is a $1,000 renewable scholarship that is open to high school seniors attending a US based college or university in the 2022-2023 school year.
An ideal candidate for the Higher Education Scholarship is a student who has demonstrated academic success and perseverance despite demonstrating financial need. Students must have a 3.5 equivalent (weighted or unweighted) GPA to be considered for this award and must apply before 11:59 PM EST on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Interested applicants can Apply Here.
As in previous years, the Balkhi Foundation strives to develop a scholarship application that is streamlined for students and recommending teachers. In service of this goal, the scholarship application process will once again be completed in three parts: An initial brief electronic student application (Due by 11:59PM EST on Saturday, April 16), a electronic teacher recommendation (Due by 11:59 PM EST Monday April 25), and a final document verification for finalists selected after blinded review (Completed in May). This streamlined application process allows students to be considered for the scholarship without submitting a hard copy transcript or prewritten teacher recommendation and does not require access to a printer, scanner, or postal mail. Teachers are contacted directly by the foundation to provide an electronic recommendation based on email addresses provided by the student
The Balkhi Foundation Higher Education Scholarship was founded to level the playing field for students with financial need who are seeking education after high school. At the Balkhi Foundation, we understand that a student’s achievement is more often bound by circumstance than ability and we are proud to offer a renewable scholarship that gives students access to a reliable source of funding for four years of undergraduate study. The impact of providing renewable scholarships to talented students like these is immeasurable. Balkhi Foundation Scholars are currently engaged in community service, peer mentorship, basic and applied scientific research, and entrepreneurial pursuits thanks in part to the financial assistance provided by this award. The ten talented scholars of 2022 will be chosen after a blinded review of hundreds of candidates, many of whom will still require financial assistance to attend college.
