Applications are now closed for the 2019 Balkhi Foundation Higher Education Scholarship. We at the foundation are pleased to announce that we received over 1,000 applications from talented high schoolers all over the country. Scholarship applicants hailed from 48 states and included international applicants who will be attending US colleges and universities in the 2019-2020 school year.
The applicant pool for this years scholarship represented a wide selection of applicants from every walk of life, unified by their high achievement, stellar recommendations, and thirst for knowledge. The average self reported GPA/HPA of our scholarship applicants was an impressive 3.6 with applicants pursuing a broad variety of majors including hospitality, computer science, music, business administration, literature, neuroscience, psychology, nursing, and engineering. Applicants will be attending community colleges, state universities, HBCUs and Ivy League universities. While all of our applicants shared with us their undergraduate education plans, many shared with us other career goals including starting an NGO, building a community advocacy group, starting their own business, reinventing an industry, creating a feature film, pursuing graduate education, and giving back to their communities.
We are confident that the winners of the 2019 Balkhi Foundation Higher Education Scholarship will represent this fine group of applicants well. All applicants will be contacted at the email address they provided after the winners are chosen. A public announcement will also be made once all winners are notified. Applicants curious about their status are encouraged to wait until June 5th if they have not been contacted by email.
