About the Project

The Balkhi Foundation Higher Education Scholarship seeks to help talented young people make college more attainable through a $1000 scholarship. These one year awards are granted to exceptional high school seniors accepted to a US based college or university who demonstrate a financial need.

An ideal applicant for a Balkhi Foundation Scholarship is a student who has shown dedication to their academics as well as their personal goals whether that is through community service, creation of a business or invention, or significant dedication to academic pursuits. Students should be dedicated self starters who have shown tenacity in the face of challenges and a hungry for success.

Current high school seniors with a 3.5 weighted or unweighted GPA with financial need are encouraged to apply when applications open. 2021 Scholarship applications will open in April 2021. Winners will be notified in May 2021.

The importance of providing assistance for talented students such as these cannot be understated. These ten talented winners were chosen after blinded review of hundreds of candidates, many of whom still require financial assistance to attend college. Please consider donating to the Balkhi Foundation to fund even more of these extremely talented students in 2021.

Applicants Must Submit
One teacher recommendation that speaks to their academic achievement and their interest in technology
Acceptance letter if training program or internship is of restricted admission
A statement of no more than one page explaining the student’s interest in the program and the student’s previous experience with the technology they are studying. Students can also submit additional demonstration items as evidence of their existing knowledge or interest in their area of study.
If an applicant is selected for funding, a parent or legal guardian must sign a statement of commitment stating they are aware of the student’s enrollment in the program and that they intend to facilitate the student’s attendance to the intended program.
